How does the "Popular on Oppositelock" sidebar work?

Does anyone know how the “Popular on Oppositelock” sidebar works? What statistics does Oppo consider “ popular” ?

I ask because on occasion I have had things I post appear over on the sidebar with low views and low likes sitting there so long they become high view items , while items I post which earn high views and high likes (beating the items sitting on the side bar ) sometimes never appear on the sid e bar.

Is there any rhyme or reason to the side bar?

Probably the changes in view count, save count, and comment count every X amount of time.

Ive unsu cessfully tried being popular.

Only thing I do know is that asking about it just makes you less c ool. So now you'll never be popular.
